Ocean City Transportation Center

Bridges & Roadway Stuctures
Ocean City is an island and as such we rely on bridges and causeways to get to and from the island. There are two bridges that connect Ocean City to the mainland and two bridges that connect to other barrier islands.

The bridges connected to the mainland are centrally located on the island at both 9th Street (also called Route 52 Causeway) and 34th Street. The 9th Street Bridge/Rt. 52 Causeway connects Ocean City to the City of Somers Point. This causeway is currently under construction by the State of New Jersey. There will be a brand new bridge in the same location, but it will have great enhancements including recreation areas and a bike and pedestrian lane.
The 34th Street Bridge connects Ocean City to Marmora in Upper Township.

The bridges connecting Ocean City to other barrier islands are part of a coastal road system known as Ocean Drive. These bridges are located at the far south end and far north end of the island. At the south end, Ocean City connects with Strathmere in Upper Township and at the north end, the bridge leads to the Longport causeway that goes between Longport Borough and the City of Somers Point. The area in between along which the causeway runs is part of Egg Harbor Township.
