DOWNTOWN OCEAN CITY

Ocean City’s downtown is as great as its beach and boardwalk.  The downtown shopping district along Asbury Avenue from 6-11th Street is home to over 100 unique shops, galleries and restaurants where there is something for everyone in the family

There is a wonderful range of choices, from old-fashioned variety stores to high-end boutiques, from collectibles and antiques to the newest fashions – both mainstream and couture.   If you need a break from the book stores, gift shops and galleries, visit our coffeehouses for perfectly brewed tea and coffees or our ice cream parlors, bakeries or candy shops for the coolest treats.  And when it is time for a satisfying meal, sit down and enjoy at one of the numerous eateries. Train enthusiasts can stop by and visit the train display and town replica in the lobby of Stainton’s at 810 Asbury Avenue.

Downtown Ocean City is a year-round destination for shopping and dining, and in the summer, there are additional community events with something for everyone in the family.  The weekly summer events start with Funtastic Tuesdays where there is family entertainment downtown from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m..  Tuesday’s fun continues with Family Film night on the Second Floor of Stainton’s.  Every Wednesday there is a Farmer’s Market with bountiful fresh produce and flowers held on the Tabernacle grounds, between 5th & 6th Streets facing Asbury Avenue.  It is regularly enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.  On Wednesday evenings from 6-9pm, the festivities shift to a fun-filled night of music, dancing, shopping, prizes and art called Evenings on Asbury Avenue.  Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. are Market Days offering free pony rides, face painters, magic, puppet shows and live music to entertain the young, old and everyone in between.  Asbury Avenue is also the destination for the Second Friday Art Walks, with live entertainment, food specials and artisans displaying and selling their works.  The Second Friday Art Walks are held on the second Friday of each month from May to October.

The Spring and Fall seasons have their own fantastic events downtown.  There are Spring and Fall Citywide Yard Sales followed by the Spring and Fall Block Parties, Halloween Fright events, and Christmas Hospitality weekend.  For something extra special, on weekends throughout December enjoy free carriage rides with Santa!
